“Congress on the Square” Welcomes Georgia’s Veterans

(Augusta, GA) U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today announced that he will host “Congress on the Square” in ten communities.  During “Congress on the Square”, Dr. Broun sets up mobile offices in communities where he does not have a permanent office.  This month, in addition to helping residents with any federal concern, Dr. Broun’s staff will record the personal stories of U.S. wartime veterans who live in the 10th Congressional District.

“This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project,” said Dr. Broun.  “I encourage Georgia’s men and women who have served in the Armed Forces to stop by ‘Congress on the Square’ and share their oral histories with members of my staff.  We will then submit these stories to the Library of Congress for them to be preserved for future generations.”

Veterans are encouraged to submit original letters, journals, maps, official military documents, and photographs.  Any member of the public is also welcome to attend and share their ideas about legislation or seek assistance with a federal agency.  Please note the congressional voting schedule in Washington, D.C. does not permit Dr. Broun to be present at these events.  For more information, contact one of the district offices in Toccoa (706-886-1008), Athens (706-549-9588), or Augusta (706-447-3857).
