Every day I read the words "We The People" and I hear the these words spoken by so many. Just what do they mean?
The phrase that many so readily mention is contained in the Preamble to the United States Constitution.
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." - The Constitution of the United States
As a member of the group "We the People" I have the obligation to protect the rights set out in the Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Over time the people of this great nation have grown lazy and they have allowed their elected officials to systematically take away the rights set forth in these documents.
We are in a time when the Government is trying to dictate how each of us live our lives. The progressive movement in this country distorts and miss-uses every phrase of these documents to advance their agenda.
Look at the problem of illegal immigration! The American people have made their voice heard in poll after poll that securing the border is the first thing that needs to happen before any type of comprehensive immigration reform can happen. The progressives have again ignored the voice of the people and want to push forward amnesty for illegals as a first step.
What is the underlying reason for this? It is clear to me that the progressives want to stuff the ballot box with new votes from newly naturalized citizens. That would assure that the progressives would secure the reelection of their cronies so that they can continue to dictate their terms to us.
Our elected representative should do just that; represent "We The People" who elected them. Most bills that are passed by Congress are thousands of pages long and laced with special interest deals that de-fraud the American public.
No elected official should put forth special interest proposals as additions to any bill. All bills should stand on their own and be voted on as such. All special interest considerations should also be voted on separately as well.
Personally, I believe that all Federal issues should be voted on by the Congress and that each of the states should be responsible for the special interests in their respective states.
I have faith that the people of this country have come to the awareness that we have to vent our elected officials to make certain that those elected understand that if they do not follow the will of the electorate they will not be reelected.
In closing, I challenge each of you to understand your rights as given to you by the great documents of this nation's founding fathers. These are not ever evolving documents as the progressive movement would like you to believe. If we protected the basic rights and freedoms expressed in these documents all else would fall into line. We have allowed the Federal government to become too involved in the everyday aspects of our life.
If we compromise on these issues today, we will lose our resolve and freedom tomorrow!
Be aware that the progressive movement will whittle away at our freedoms, by asking us to compromise, with the idea that they will slowly steal our freedoms tomorrow. They know that if we do not stay vigilant to the cause, they will win over time.
Let's take the time and make the effort to return this country to the principles that have made it great! Always protect your rights and your neighbors rights based on the principles set down by our founding fathers.
